work putting pressure on

I work as a prison officer ,and have type 2 ,I've been really struggling with the shift pattern recently ( we work 2pm til 10pm then back on shift 7am til 230pm...can't get my meds and eating pattern to fit so having hypos
I've asked work about shifting to night's as its regular hours,but there attitude is that I knew what I was getting into when I joined up,if I don't like it...leave....
Any advice with dealing with hr departments greatly appreciated !!
 
Contact the diabetes Uk Carelne. they have all the onformation about your employment rights plus they have an advocacy service. Their dietary advice isn't up to much, but their battling is "good"

Your Union should be able to help in such matters, failing that try the Citizens Advice to see if they can assist.
 
Diabetes comes under the Disability Discrimination laws. Your employed has a duty of care to take you disability seriously. If you are forsed out you could take them to Tribunal for unfait dismissal. GEt some proper advise and present it to them!
 
Thanks for all the advice,I work for a huge company,(starts in G ...ends in 4s ) so you would have thought they would have known better...
 
I understand your situation - but T2's having hypo's is a sign of over-medicating. It's easy to stop a hypo from happening (for a T2), don't take drugs if you're not eating...
