work shoes or boots

Hi, I'm type 2 and work in an office/factory environment. i've stopped wearing my safety shoes when in the office but have to put them on for visits to the factory. i've found my feet get warm and toes feel crowded in safety footwear more than say casual shoes. i'm aware that non-diabetics where i work sometimes complain about safety footwear and its lack of comfort.

Maybe worth speaking to your manager or safety rep if you have one?

You can get steel toe cap trainer type shoes. These could be more comfortable.
 
Hi, I'm told that U-Power Enough safety boots and shoes are most popular for comfort or they are where I work.

Dr Martins (air Wair) Have safety shoes which are quite comfortable.

The dr martins safety boots are quite comfy too if you need a boot. I used them a lot at work where I did all sorts of gardening /groundsman type work in them untill they were replaced by dewalts. The dm`s weren't overly heavy either.. quite a broad fit too. Im now using the de walts but theyre definitely heavier and a slightly narrower fit for me, but a far more robust boot with goretex. My feet havent got wet in them despite the rain weve had this past summer and winter.

I used to have to wear safety boots with a steel toecap protection for many years. There is these days a huge range of such products. If you are going to wear them a lot and in colder weather it is worth investing in a comfortable fit for purpose pair. Some even come with a fleece lining.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the supplier we used but my employer paid for and supplied us with the boots as they were complying with or seeking to comply with the (often overlooked) Health and Safety at Work Act.
