I'm 28 have always worked full time with my diabetes and also every other weekend in second job with no issues if levels too low or high and on sick day rules I don't work as it includes a lot of driving.
 
Dani, has your thyroid function been tested? Hypothyroidism can go hand in hand with type 1 as both are autoimmune. Tiredness is a symptom of under active thyroid. I have both (but didn't actually notice the tiredness).

No Hels, I don't think it has, unless it's been something they've done as standard when checking my bloods and haven't told me

Ask for it - it's thyroid function test. Mine was tested when I was first diagnosed so it may be a standard thing to check (on bloods form may say TS3, TS4, TSH). I take levothyroxine tablets for it and is no bother - I have regular blood tests and juggle the dose to get it at right level.

I was pregnant when diagnosed so they might have been cautious and just tested me for everything that could also occur!

Just checked the bloods form the consultant gave me to get done before I see her in May and it has TSH included on it.

Can you check if they did it with your previous tests? If not, maybe get it done before May. I don't know if it's normal but I can just ring up my GP and ask them to do bloods (HBa1C, thyroid function, liver function, cholesterol) - as I have to do this before my appointments with the consultant at the hospital.

I don't have the records from any previous tests - I'll give the surgery a call on Monday and see what results they have. Thanks for your help x

Just wanted to thank you all for your advice and give you an update - HR was very understanding and was happy for me to reduce my contracted hours subject to me checking with head of department.... The partners I work for weren't so keen - they've said I can do it on a temporary basis by working overtime and taking unpaid leave but I'm not allowed to change my contracted hours to 35 hours per week from April as I had hoped

I've booked in for a thyroid test next Thursday so really hoping this is the cause of my tiredness, although they've said they did test me on diagnosis in July, not sure if Hypotyroidism is something that could have developed since then?

With diabetes hypothyroidism can develop at almost any time
They are both autoimmune conditions.

Diabetic energy level is generally lower than normal. Mine is fine

Had my bloods done thismorning, checking tyroid, b12, anaemia and a few other things - fingers crossed I get some answers.

Blood pressure was checked at the same time and was a little high, do you guys have any tips? Is it the usual eat healthy, exercise regularly etc
