Working on a Production Line

Does anyone know of anyone that works on a car production line with Type 1 diabetes.

Just wanted to know if this is a viable job option for a type 1 diabetic??

Thanks

I can't see why not as the company will have to adhere to The Working Time Regulations and provide adequate breaks, any concerns then you could discuss them with your employer.

There are some jobs that you can't do as a diabetic - these tend to be roles in the emergency services etc. Working on a production line should be fine. Just let your employer know that you're diabetic and make sure they understand that you will need breaks if your sugars drop and so on.

When I worked on a production line assembling Fork lift Trucks many years ago-My friend and colleague was Type 1 IDD and managed well and was given a key to the medical room for testing and dosing and all first aiders were briefed about his condition and what to do if he went low and what to look out for-Thankfully there was never any problems.
