I have been off work since February , Due to mental health issues caused by bullying , they are saying I must return to work at the end of the month . I am again on the waiting list for mental health because one of my symptoms is sever anger and anxiety and unpredictable outbursts. Effectively I have been in lockdown since March. My problem is I work in retail and after contracting adult mumps and measles at work due to my interaction with the public ,I do not feel safe, it was suggested I look into shielding but my doctor says I am not eligible . I also have fibro, my levels before the bullying was 9. I now have readings of 26, My diabetic support system at my doctors is useless a case of take this and get out .I have never spent more than 10 minutes in her office. My doctor advises my stress levels will not show a true reading. The nurse claims there is no connection between stress and diabetic levels, which Is B/S due to other on going health issues .caused by my stress levels . Can anyone tell in detail the shielding criteria please. I rang the nurse this morning chasing up another blood test which she has insisted on ,only to find she has sent me blood pressure maintenance sheet for doctors. How do you fight that? sorry that should of read my blood pressure was not a true reading due to diabetic reading.

Who is on the shielding list
https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...ng-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19

anecdotally from reports in this forum if hb1ac is in the high 70’s some gp’s are placing those people on the extreme vulnerable (highest risk) list. Contact your gp if you feel this should apply to you.

As you say stress will and does increase blood glucose levels. I take it you are able to test yourself at home. Whilst it doesn’t solve your work problems there are however lots of things you can do to reduce those levels. Foremost is the food you eat. Reducing carbohydrates can have a drastic effect and quite quickly (some improvement immediately, ongoing over weeks and months). See the links below for details of how to do this. Come back and ask questions.

Does the nurse know you are testing at 26 regularly? If not tell her.

It’s very high and should be reduced ASAP by immediately changing food (cut carbs, not just sugar) if that’s an option. Otherwise seek medical help to get it down.
