Hi, still new to this. Seven year old grandson diagnosed with type 1 last Thursday and is back in hospital for the 3rd day in a row. He is managing his finger pricks ok but not allowing my daughter to inject and is now avoiding food.

Anyone else had a similar experience with a child and did it get resolved?

It would be best if you ask the hospital to contact his diabetes team and ask them to come along and see your grandson and his parents, either that or contact them in the morning and explain things to them, I'm sure this will be something they deal with time and time again with children.

Hi again lindy, sorry to hear of the injecting problems. I'm sure the children's diabetes specialists have come upon this problem before and will have tips and advice. There is a bear called Rufus which has injection sites,( my grandaughter had one of these wonderful bears) here is a link

I hope the hospital can find something to help, or maybe some other parents or family members on the forum will have a solution that worked for them. Take care and best wishes to your grandson.
