Hi Izzy, how soon after stopping the Atorvastatin did your OH's blood glucose go down? I have been wondering about this myself, my cholesterol at the end of March was 4 and yet my bg are extremely high and I am on insulin. So I am fighting weight increase with high bg. I am on Atorvastatin 10mg. I would be keen to give it a try but do not know how long the pills stay I your system. I have also recently starting losing my hair and I know that can be a side effect - I am female - interestingly though my husband is on Simvastatin and I have been saying to him that his hair is thinning and he has always had a good head of hair.I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but I'll say it anyway. 6 weeks ago, my OH stopped taking Simvastatin on the advice of his Gp. Now during this time, his Bg's have gone from 12- 14's to 7-9's. On the statin no matter what he did, it didn't seem to make any difference. Raising the insulin just had no impact. He has now got regular readings of 7-9's, which isn't perfect but it is a step in the right direction. He has even LOWERED his daily insulin intake.
