Would you eat this?

Yeah, the contour plus is my go to glucometer. Easy. Works. I'm only going to keep the Abbott one because it takes ketone strips as well (plus charges via USB... looking at it now I think it may be the Libre 2 reader but it accepts both kinds of strips)

I doubt it - I'm quite careful. And sometimes, when I have failure at first, I try to rub the blood onto the strip, and that has worked. So I think it's insufficient blood.
You may well be right.

My technique has always been to touch the blood drop with the end of the strip allowing blood to “wick” up the end?
But even with that successful action. For me a “fail” was when I dinged the end, misjudging the touch on the drop & catching a digit..

I've been using the Abbott Freestyle Freedom Lite since diagnosis.
The strips are as pictured up thread with the two little protrusions on the side.
These seem to work reliably with very little blood.
As far as I know this model is well known for not needing a big sample, which is nice as i don't like sharp stabby things.

I buy the strips from Chemist4u. Haven't had any issues with supply or delivery, £8.59 for 50 strips. This supplier doesn't seem to offer an option for diabetics to remove VAT. However, last time I price checked a month ago, these were cheaper than other sites that did allow diabetics to remove VAT.

They also sell the meter, which I got at the same time. It's £29.99

The Contour app is available on the Apple app store from a quick Google of it (I'm on Android). Info about what the app does can be found here:

Thank you for the information. Much appreciated.

Well, as promised (I think) I made another similar curry, with beef and some extra broccoli and cauliflower, but no rice. I started eating about 1pm. The spikes later are from a couple of beers I had in the pub, which were a bit less than I'd expected. So in summary: it was the rice! (the dips were from when the Libre lost the connection, despite my phone only being a couple of feet away, but you get the drift.)

I have one as my Christmas present every year, and one for my birthday 5 months later. They are things I really want and wouldn't buy routinely for myself.
I don't need to wear one all the time as I know what is low carb, but I do wear one when away on holiday or or business where I'm not in control of the cooking. The 2 I have year are enough o keep me motivated and on track and enjoying holidays... win, win, win . AND it means people know what to buy me I place of the wrong foods!

I love your approach, trying it out, logging, and seeing what happens!
It was quite nice, and I didn't miss the rice, to be fair. I'll try a Foo Young with a small egg fried rice next to see what happens. I'll hold off on the Domino's until then.

There are some very decent low (and no carb). Lowecal, Bach 95, Skinny etc. Have a look at Drinkwell https://drinkwelluk.com/collections/low-calorie-beer
