Wow. What you eat really does have a huge affect on your 2 hour postprandial reading

Forgive the naivety, but I have only been pricking my finger for a week. I am sure this is obvious to everybody else, but I am discovering that what types of food you eat has a huge affect on your 2 hour postprandial reading.

If I eat sandwiches with bread for lunch, the postprandial reading is 8- 10.

Today I had salad with meat(s) (lettuce, tomato, pastrami), and the postprandial reading it 5.0

T2D diagnosed Aug 2018. HB1Ac results in the 10% range.
Prediabetic since 2016

BGL largely unmonitored and uncontrolled till a week ago

I am currently on metaformin (2g/day) gliclazide ( 2 tab/day) tranjenta (1 tab )

Looks like you have just taken the red pill... welcome to the forum.

Aye. This is why I rail against health care professionals who would not have us test. We learn so much with a little gadget and I think it's worth every penny.

Keep up the great work!

That has to be the best symbolism for becoming aware of testing/lchf.

A very good demonstration of the differene between a meal with carbs and a meal with much less carbs. Glad to see that you are monitoring your BG. I know some GPs tell you that you do not have to, but they're wrong. They suggest that it causes anxiety, but again I believe they are wrong, I get anxious if I don't know what my BG is doing.

Now that you've seen the difference having carbs makes and should you decide to maybe lower your carb intake, just be careful. When I cut out bread, pasta, rice and potato, my BG dropped so low that I was able to stop taking Gliclazide and Januvia. My total cholesterol also dropped dramatically and I threw away the dreaded statins.

So for me personally, low carb is the way to go, a no brainer. However, I do recognise that we're all very different and it might not suit everyone.

It's a revelation, isn't it... Maybe before long, you'll be discussing cutting back on meds with your doctor.
