These trials in mice and rats never seem to see the light of day, the following was rather worrying:

Deadly viruses and the often pointlessness to humans of rodent trials aside this still doesn't seem to address the underlying Autoimmune issues.
If these cells start to produce insulin is it because they have been converted into Beta Cells? If so then arent we simply painting a nice bullseye on the liver for our rather confused immune systems to have a go at?
