Hi I was diagnosed type 2 beginning of February. My bg was 77. My doctor prescribed 3 x metformin a day. I decided not to take them. From that day I changed my lifestyle. I started a chicken fish and salad diet. Researched endlessly about diabetes. I have lost 3 stones and today my h1bc test was 34. You can do it if you put your mind to it. Good luck.!!
Well done leakypete! You can sustain a lower weight and normal blood glucose levels going forward if you stick to a modified diet. In my case this is LCHF which has become the norm over time. You have done brilliantly so far!!!!!!
You don't need to stick to a restrictive diet - at least, I have found no need to do so.
Any meat or fish, eggs and cheese, full fat yoghurt and there are many low carb veges to choose from. I do stir fries, casseroles, curries - and have berries a couple of times a week. The thing to watch is the amount of carbs - protein and fats are pretty much essential for good health.
