Your diabetic team

I am not sure if this has been covered before and apologies if so, but as a newcomer to the forum I was just curious to find out whether anyone out there has any member of their support team who has diabetes too? Could be your GP, specialist nurse or even consultant. Yeah right! Whatever, it would be interesting to compare experiences relating to all areas of managing the condition. Do you follow their advice at all, to the letter, or is it a starting point for you to then determine what works best for you? And that's not a trick question...

I have finally settled on a very good team where I'm based, but in the past I have also received the archetypal nightmare lectures, often from "professionals" who have no idea of living with the condition 24/7.

OK, open season!

Yes thanks I read that too. To clarify, I am specifically interested in hearing what people have to say about their HCP/team who is/are also diabetic.

my diabetic nurse has a type 1 hubby so shes actually very good and i think her experience is a huge bonus :D

I didn't have a team! Boo Hoo.

Told I had type II and given a list of drugs I might like to study.
No information on a visit to the diabetic nurse, no pamphlets, no nothing.
Overworked clinic in central Bristol with loads of patients in the waiting room might have something to do with it
Thank you all for this forum!!!!
You are my team.
