Hi

I was diagnosed T2 approx 4 weeks ago with an HbA1c of 8.6 and fasting blood sugar of 10 The doctor agreed to leave it 2-3 months to see the impact of changes to diet and exercises before exploring medication. My approach was to go low carb (approx 50g per day) and some exercises (mainly cycling 4-8 miles per non raining day). I have been measuring my BG twice per day, fasting and two hours after my main meal.

Things started very well with both levels going gradually down with 2hrs after dinner reaching regular mid fives and fasting usually in the mid sixes (from 10 for both at the start). That is until 4 days ago when I had a fasting reading of 6 (my lowest fasting to date) followed by a mid day reading of 8. Since then I have not been able to go below 7.8 and will go as far as 8.6. for both fasting and 2 hrs Postprandial.

My diet and exercise has been absolutely constant since I started, I do not have a cold and I am not stressed so I am a concerned and considering making an appointment to review the medicine situation.

My question to people who have been through this is did they encounter a similar situation before the readings went down again or is my body telling me that my T2 is too advanced for diet/exercise.

Your comments and experienced are appreciated.

Not all Type2's can manage on diet and exercise, it may well be that you need some medication.
Would you like to share your food diary so that we can see if there is anything that needs tweaking.
