Alcohol, eating out + neuropathy
Alcohol is often associated with Christmas and the UK charity Addaction reports that alcohol consumption rises by 40% during December.
We're all aware that excessive
alcohol is bad for our health but there are extra health implications for people with diabetes as alcohol has greater calories, may increase our chance of complications and can increase the chance of short term complications such as hypoglycemia if we are not careful enough.
Alcohol and diabetes
With work Christmas parties around this time of year, we can often end up at restaurants we wouldn't usually pick to visit. Plus, alcohol has an effect on blood sugar levels.
To help out, we've compiled a set of tips to help with managing sugar levels when eating out.
Dining out with diabetes
Letting those close to you know about your diabetes can be daunting for some, but having someone to talk too – be it a friend, relative or work colleague - can help you come to terms with your medical condition.
