![]() Rosiglitazone, the diabetes drug taken by up to 100,000 people in the UK has been banned after it was found to raise the risk of heart disease by the European Medicines Agency. According to Avandia.com, "Avandia can cause or worsen heart failure". There has been growing concern regarding Avandia, which was released to the market 10 years ago for people with type 2 diabetes. GlaxoSmithKline, which produces Avandia have responded through Chief Medical Officer at GSK, Dr Ellen Strahlman who stated "Our primary concern are our patients with type 2 diabetes."
