    SGLT2i - a traveller takes the first steps on a long journey - forxiga/dapagliflozin

Strange things going on. I seem to be having a gout flare up despite the blood test just prior to starting my new medication showing that my urate levels were within range. I wondered if the SGLT2i carried an extra gout risk but looking on line it seems to be a potential treatment for gout, and...

    Colonoscopy

I am not on GLP1 but I just kept taking my medication prior to the procedure. However I recommend talking to your surgery for advice.

    Sitagliptin experiences...?

I self fund Libre 2 so I always have a reasonable picture of where my BG is at (has been/is going). I didn't notice a sudden increase in my capacity for carbohydrates, which was what I was really hoping for.

    Sitagliptin experiences...?

I'm on alogliptin but in the great scheme of things it doesn't seem to have made much difference. I haven't been drastically scientific about it, though.

    SGLT2i - a traveller takes the first steps on a long journey - forxiga/dapagliflozin

Have added pee sticks (not the garden variety) to my shopping list. Test for sugar in urine. Test for ketones in urine. Thanks for all the comments so far. I am getting the picture that forxiga is not incompatible with low carbohydrate, despite the warnings on the patient leaflet, online, and...

    SGLT2i - a traveller takes the first steps on a long journey - forxiga/dapagliflozin

As mentioned elsewhere, I am now started on my next escalation of medication. I am already on 4 * 500 mg Metformin a day. Also on Vipidia/alogliptin 25 mg once a day. I have not been able to get my HbA1c down below 7.5% and it seems to be around 7.8% to 7.9%. This is partly due to poor self...

    Soft or meltable hypo treatment?

Fortuitous to come across this thread, as I am just starting a SGLT2 inhibitor and the notes say you should be prepared for a hypo although it is rare. I was thinking possibly glucose tablets. At one time jelly babies used to be an option, but I have no idea how much sugar is in them these...

Article about SGLT2i, possible actions, possible effects on kidneys. Reviews please!

Latest HbA1c is 7.8% despite my best efforts. Looks like I am about to try out some new medication.

Article about SGLT2i, possible actions, possible effects on kidneys. Reviews please!

Back on this thread again. I assume your UTI was linked to flushing extra glucose out of your system, which was linked to a higher carbohydrate intake. This is disappointing for me because I am struggling to stick to very strict keto and was also hoping that an SGLT2i would allow me the...

Type 2 Help..really high bloody sugars

" but like a cheeky snack in the evening" That could be part of your problem. Are your vegetables all from above ground? No root vegetables such as potatoes and parsnips? Nothing made from grains? It would help if you could list what you eat most days so we can see if there is anything we...

Celeriac - serving suggestions & NI help

I found that by the time I had removed all the skin and roots the remaining flesh cost about the same as a bag of frozen celeriac and didn't involve all the cutting and peeling. Sadly, Waitrose seem to have stopped stocking it. I like it as mash with loads of cream and butter.

    Feeling cold since starting low-carb

Just to note that I am climbing back on the low carb wagon after a holiday (including very carby airline food) and I am really cold at the moment. I've got my coat on and it isn't a cold house. I am warm when I am walking, but back home I feel really cold at the moment. I assume it is my body...

    Very confused

T2 here, but have you got Basal and Bolus the wrong way round? I would assume you take Basal once a day and then Bolus after meals.

Body clock, time zones, insulin response

Thanks for all the responses. I never did get to the bottom of when my body adjusted, but I think I am aligned with the clock now. I do have a distinctly different insulin response pre and post noon. In the morning DP raises my BG and I don't cope well with carbs. In the mid to late afternoon...

    Olive oil

Nothing that if you just take olive oil alone to test for blood glucose effects, be aware that it can act as a lubricant in the intestines. Which can be a good or slightly alarming thing.

Body clock, time zones, insulin response

I am currently in NZ which is roughly 12 hours or half a day ahead of the UK. In the UK my body has a sort of rhythm. Dawn Phenomenon building from about 6, insulin response kicking in around noon, BG dropping nicely in the afternoon. Overnight can be mixed. I'm just wondering how long my body...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

The main point is that you have drastically changed the way you eat and what you eat, and this seems to have brought your BG under control. If you are successfully managing your BG by diet alone, then you don't need Metformin. That would be added once you could not maintain good enough control...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

An interesting tale. You don't, however, explain what you were told about Metformin and why this was wrong. Nor do you explain why this was not suitable for you personally. Do you mind sharing?

    Type 2 Disappointing HbA1c

HbA1c is a measure over 3 months, but it is most impacted by the last 6 weeks. So abnormal BG in the few weeks before the test can have a disproportionate impact. You seem to be doing all the right things, so well done! Diabetes is a marathon not a sprint, so you have to be patient with...

Can Metformin HCL 1000mg cause vitamin B12 deficiency?

Normally yes, depending on the quantity! There are more carbohydrates in skim milk than full fat milk. Cream is even lower carbohydrate. Cheese is also good as some carbohydrate is fermented out during production.
