Hi please can anyone tell me if the really bad burning sensation (I feel daily) on the outside of my thighs, is due to having type2?

Hi, the best thing would be to make an appointment with your GP or DSN for help, advice and a diagnosis, good luck.

@Clivethedrive hi,I suffer with an eating disorder and with only recently being diagnosed with type 2 my levels are always above 10. I know this is too high (it has been as high as 26-6) but I am trying to get it lower,it depends on what and if ive eaten.my doctor is aware of my high levels and I'm sure I'll reduce it. Its the burning/numbness I'm having trouble with.my doctor keeps telling me its because I'm waiting for a hip replacement which should happen in march but I had my first hip replaced in september but it made no difference whatsoever regarding the burning/numbness.hope you can give me an answer as its driving me mad at the moment, much worse at nightime. Thankyou.

@Jogreen21, speaking from my own experience of t2 diabetes,i had bad neuropathy in my feet, felt like i was walking on broken glass, after joining this forum and learning how to control my bs's by lchf and portion controlling,i bought my weight down from 17st 8 bs to 12st 8 lbs, this greatly helped and my bs's have remained around 4.5 to 6.5 at all times, the neuropathy eased within 6 months and touch wood has not come back.as @Robinredbreast advises, see your doc or diabetes nurse and get the best treatment for your symptoms clive

Hi,

When I was newly diagnosed, I was put on Metformin and after a month or two I started getting heat sensations on my leg and at times it felt like I was pissing myself (somewot unnerving in the middle of a presentation), what sorted that out for me was switching to the Slow Release (SR) version of Metformin.

I don't know if you're on any meds but as mentioned above apart from neuropathy, if you're on the normal metformin and as it costs no more it could be worth a punt at the doctors to ask them to switch it for you.

Apart from that, hope you have a happy christmas :)

That is interesting. I have been mis-diagnosed Type 2 and now 1.5 in last 6 months. The only obvious symptoms I experienced initially was more frequent peeing/peeing in the night (which has now gone away - I've been on metformin and switched to basal insulin in last couple of months). However, I had been experiencing burning sensation on one of my calves for last year+ prior to that from time to time which I will now mention to my diabetic nurse as like you I have noticed it occasionally in a thigh recently.

maybe you should read a lot of vitamin K2 ... that helps get the calcium into the right places in the body and not in the wrong places... both vitamin K1 and vitamin K2 are important... but in different ways... and if ones gut-flora isn´t normal/adequate some suplementation could maybe be a good idea...not instead of food but to supports ones whole body system...of cause with the accept of ones doctor/GP
in youtube one can hear a lecture about the vitamin.
..

I think it could be very important for diabetics to now all about that vitamin(K2) because diabetics especially type 2 very often do suffer from bone-deterioration and similar bone troubles

Sorry its a late reply but we've been away to my mums.I'm going to have to see my doctor as the pain in my thighs is getting worse.ive also noticed I get a tingling sensation in my fingers (I dont know if its same as im my thighs)
When I go to bed its much worse and it stops me sleeping.when I do go to sleep it always wakes me up.my first morning test is between 10 amd 15.,.i know its too high and probably down to my eating disorder.(which is getting better) I know i dont eat enough and my liver is producing more glucose which is why my tests are high.i only used to have one thing a day to eat (like an egg or a bowl of vegetables).now, with help from people on this site I'm eating 3 things s day (I havent made myself sick for 3 weeks now which is good as ive been bulimic all my adult life).being diagnosed with diabetes was the the kick up the bum that I needed to get help for my eating.i'm doing ok at the moment as ive gone 3 wks without being sick.i cant say I'm over it yet but I'm getting there.

@wookie101.i'm not on any medication yet but I'm seeing a diabetes doctor at the hospital.and I'm back on 17th january and ive been doing a food diary and recording my results (which are far too high ) and when ive seen the doctor again shes going to see about putting me on some medocation.I'm suffering with burning in my thighs and tingling in my fingers
Ive also got osteoperosis due to the eating disorder.i'm really trying to eat as I know my body needs food for energy but its hard for me.i cannot control my type2 by diet alone as I dont actually have one. I just eat my 3 things a day at the moment and Ive thought about eating a bit more but at.the moment I'm ok with my 3 things.maybe I could make my new year resolution to eat more!!!!

Hey I have been told I have diabetes type 2. I am on meds and controlled diet. I am finding it hard to accept. How did u accept the news when u were told about your diabetes. It feels like the end of the world for me x

Initially I said to the Dr can there be a mistake and were they sure? He said that they had done the test twice on two occasions and he was the lead and specialist at the surgery for diabetes and there was no doubt. He showed me a lot of numbers and drew diagrams on paper for me to take away. but importantly he told me that I had to change my lifestyle and that would go a long way toward heading off any future health issues associated with type 2.

As far as accepting it then I guess on first visit a month or two later to get some blood taken around another issue and some medication I was on, I asked the person taking it at the surgery the same question 'are they sure it's not a mistake'? So it took me a while and now i'm working on getting A1c down, failing miserably at the moment and on metformin. I do not think it's the end of the world, never have but at times I worry about certain aspects but I just try and get on with it. Coming here has been a great help and I see it as a place to learn from others and their experiences, some good and i'm sure some bad. But there is a whole wodge of info here and yes I'm still asking questions on stuff and that helps with the worry i'm sure it does.

Hi @Jogreen21
Keep a steady and balanced approach to your eating, this is key to getting our livers to release excess glucose steadily,it took me 6 months ,so keep on your doing well, and sometimes it feels like were getting nowhere, but then g get a steady drop in bs's which will in turn ease the symptoms of neuropathy
So ...best of luck and good health to you
