Well done Andrew!:) sounds like your a man with a plan and you've kicked your T2 diabetes butt well and truly into touch.;)
@borofergie I also wish I could introduce some tubers such as Sweet potatoes into my diet-lovely roasted with some butter and sour cream and blows the taste of normal spuds out of the water.:) sadly I'll have to wait until Islet cell transplants are available on the NHS I reckon:jimlad:

Yes I read sometime back that your pancreas learns how much insulin to release at the first stage from the previous days as it can't tell and guesses. That is one of the reasons I really don't want to be low carb although it more intuitive. I did discuss reversing with my DSN and she has had bariatric patients but have never heard of it outside of that sphere. I pointed her at Prof Taylor's research and his fend seminar.
She was really impressed and asked to keep all the papers I printed for her and was going to look into it. She said they continue diabetic monitor of bariatric patients that had diabetes for 2 years after surgery. I gave her the paper "for doctors" from prof taylor that says up to 4 years in case it isn't type 2 but some other form and she volunteered LADA/MODY etc so I was rather impressed.

I think my DSN is a switched on lady

Thanks Paul

Shame about the sweet pots I have recently discovered them (well my taste buds have) but I still can't get round eating something so sweet with my main course.

I'm hopeful that if I lose another couple of stone on my way to the Berlin marathon in September, that I might be able to completely reverse mine too. I might have an experiment where I try to introduce some "paleo" carbs back into my diet. I love sweet potatoes so much that it would be nice to eat them once in a while.

Good luck in the Berlin marathon - now that is an inspiration. I still can't run for long or very fast

Thank you very much. I do consider myself to be lucky.

I don't think it's luck. Like Gary Player said "the harder I practice, the luckier I get". It took hard work and determination to get where you are.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I found it most interesting and certainly an inspiration, especially how you increased your exercise, which, the more I read here, seems to be a crucial factor in reducing BS, along with managing diet, of course.
I also have spent lots of time on the computer over the past years, also playing WOW, and I suspect that sitting for long hours, rather than being active, has played a large part in the onset of my diabetes.
The way you did the graphs was great, although a little daunting for me. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. It has given me added motivation to get moving.

Michael Gove and his insane educational? policies!
Well as you all can see from below I was diagnosed a week before Christmas just 3 months or so ago with an HBA1c of 91mmol/mol (10.5%) and a fasting of 9.4 mmol/L

So today I toddled down to see my DSN to get the results from a blood test I had taken on 26th March and it was hard work not to ring up at the beginning of the week to get the results. So my DSN was very pleased to see me and was really happy.

My HBA1c result has reduced to 40 mmol/mol (5.8%).

I showed her my fasting readings plotted alongside my percentage weight loss graph and she couldn't believe it either. You can see that I have lost over 20% of my body mass and managed to hit my target of being below 14 stone at the review (I am now 13st 13 lbs and 12 Oz as of this morning) . I have lost 3 stone 10 pounds (52lbs 24kgs) in the 3 months. She now doesn't want to see me until my annual review

Sorry I know it is a little bit of showing off but actually I'm quite proud. Another 2 stone to go though so will let you know when/if I ever reach it.

Thanks @Scandichic You are doing very well too. No need to be jealous you will be there soon. I will say my continued loss is much slower now (1 lb every ten days).
