hi @blueeyed81 I did my pump training at Barrow as well, 2 years ago, and if it is still the same set up, with the Medtronic nurse, it will be a group session involving 4 or 5 of you.I was thinking of going through it online so to speak.
I thought it would be a group thing lol
Thank you . My dsn is Carol and I see dietician Alison. I'm on countdown now lolol.hi @blueeyed81 I did my pump training at Barrow as well, 2 years ago, and if it is still the same set up, with the Medtronic nurse, it will be a group session involving 4 or 5 of you.
yeah, I see Carol/Alison about every 4 months now as they are happy with my control (been averaging A1c of 6.7% which is incredible after close on 23 years of 10%+).Thank you . My dsn is Carol and I see dietician Alison. I'm on countdown now lolol.
Are you still in Barrow
That's good to know, I have Carols email I emailed her to ask about the pump, 2 weeks later I was doing the paperwork to get on the first pump clinic of the year lol. Bonus, I'm going to make a list of questions if I remember lol. My current a1c is 10.2 so hoping to get it better. It has been a lot worse in the past though. I was 10.4 the test before that. Currently going in the right direction lol.yeah, I see Carol/Alison about every 4 months now as they are happy with my control (been averaging A1c of 6.7% which is incredible after close on 23 years of 10%+).
The group session is really good as you are all starting off at the same level of understanding of the pump and you'll probably make pump buddies.
The first week you'll be on saline and you'll be encouraged to play around with the pump.
The second week you'll go live with your insulin.
Don't be worried about asking questions either - no such thing as a stupid question.
Do check with Carol what you should do about you Basal the night before going live.
First month you'll feel like nothing is working right but stick with it and it will come together......and make sure you know Carol's phone number or email address.
Hi, I'm getting a pump in January I'm 14 and I'm nervous that I won't like it and it'll be very uncomfortable at school ( as I wear skirts ) or how I sleep as I sleep in my side but I don't want to get it and say no I don't want it as it costs a lot of money and the hosital has said that they wouldn't like that. So I need some advice had anybody got any??
