Having decided I didn't want to go down the more medication route suggested by the surgery DN I embarked on the LCHF route.
Bought a monitor, downloaded the MySugr app and testing testing testing for the last four weeks.
Went to see the doc to discuss my diabetes meds armed with an annotated graph on my iPad and a graph of my bedtime versus FBG readings showing a downward trend ( about the only thing I knew how to manage on Excel with the numbers I had!)
Went in and told him I was taking control of my diabetes. Cutting carbs (didn't choose to worry him with the HF bit!) Had reduced my Metformin to 1.5g which no longer led to me hanging around the nearest toilet. Showed him the graph and the estimated HbA1c from MySugr (51/2)
He was impressed. Said carry on, leave the meds alone and have my bloods done in three months to see how I'm doing. Shook my hand on the way out!
