Hi all. I seem to dip in and out of these forums when I sort of reach my wit's end. I have managed to lose about 15 lbs and keep it off in the last half year. But I'm still obese and I am still frustrated with food. I should say, I feel that former posts of mine are no longer tracked here. Has something happened to the forum in the past year? I had an anaphylactic shock attack earlier this year that has been diagnosed as wheat-induced exercise dependent allergy. Weird, but if I eat wheat an hour before I exercise, it triggers a protein in the body and I can have an attack. I nearly died this last attack, and that was a first. It hauled me up and I got a glucometer and began to monitor myself. I guess the results show I am borderline diabetic ON Metformin. My Metformin was increased to 750 mg 2/day after this last attack and I was told that you need that minimum dose for it to be effective and so as to avoid burning out the pancreas over time. I was upset about it, because clearly I am still in denial about this problem, and now I'm 5 years into it. It seems I have developed IBS in the last year - irritable bowel - and so I'm wholly unclear about what is good for my body and what isn't. Cooked is better than raw vegetables. I am tired of food in general and really like salads. I've done Paleo. I've done modified Paleo. I can't figure out if Dairy is evil or what. I would welcome some thoughts on diet again, veganism vs. meat based diets, and results in Diabetes reversal. Also, I read an article that flat out said that the issue is FAT not sugar re. Type II Diabetes - and a 30 mg fat/day diet (ie. low fat) and reduction of FAT in the system increases glucose sensitivity, so eating potatoes which I thought were evil, etc., is not so much a problem. See my confusion? Paleo given the fact that I have high cholesterol and am still 80 lbs overweight, is a concern. But it's better for my IBS. Raw foods are more healing for autoimmune, or something. ??? Ideas? MM.
