I think you need to calm down. I have had type 1 since the age of 4, over 40yrs. I am lucky if my blood is below 8 these days despite help from specialists
Stressing about being prediabetic will make it worse. Learn to cope as their are many people who can help you and count yourself as lucky that it is only pre. Normal bloods are between 4-6 so 6.2 is nothing to stress about.

I have been Type 2 for 44 years now....I am 77 now and I think I must have had
every Oral Medications ever produced at some time or other.
At the moment I am on Repaglinida 2 grams 3 times a day.
My sugar levels are rarely less than 7 to 8 every morning.......so the lady who is
worried about her 6/7 levels should not be too concerned...(A personal point ,I Know)
but I go on the advice of the Doctor who first diagnosed my condition which was and I quote
every 3 months. I may be one of the fortunate few who leads a charmed life...but one thing
I have learned over the years is to be Positive....and dont let it take over .
May I take the opportunity to wish one and all of us a long and fruitful life. God Bless.

I apologise for missing out the quotation from my previous post
It was "As long as your readings are in single figures...no worries
The bit missing also is my Diabetic Nurse checks all my meter readings
every 3 months and is happy as well.
Lets hope this post reads correctly.

44 years, wow.... Hi, may I just ask you, have you ever had tingling or numbness in your toes or feet in that time? Reason I'm asking is cos I've been diagnosed type 2, two weeks ago and have tingling in toes , so I'm scared shitless. Would appreciate your many years of wisdom and experience from this .... Enjoy your evening, best wishes Gerard

Hi Gerard, welcome to the forum, hope you don't mine me jumping in. Peripheral neuropathy is not unusual in diabetics although there are other causes like autoimmune diseases, infections, toxins, poor circulation. You might like to check out what podiatrist care you can get, it will help a bit. I pay for my podiatrist and worth every penny, I also have one of those electric foot massage machines which also helps with the knackered lymph nodes in my ankles, improving circulation pretty much as it says on the tin. That's been my experience for what it's worth.

When you get to have a diabetic review, they normally tickle your feet with a small stick (????) to gauge the degree of neuropathy. Don't forget to mention what you're feeling or not feeling in your feet. Give them all the info you can.

Hi, I need advice please as I am freaking out.
My blood sugar level does not want to drop below about 6.2. I am eating low carb so it doesn't rise too much when I eat, maybe to about 7.0 but it doesn't want to drop down below around 6. This has been going on for about 5 weeks. My fasting b.s. has also increased to about 6.1 and I now have dawn phenomenon which I have never had before. My b.s. will rise to about 7.0 four hours after waking and then drop back to about 6.2.
This is all new and is seriously stressing me out. I had lunch today and 2 hours later my blood sugar was 5.5 and then two hours after that it was up to 6.3.

maybe something else is going on too..

have you had your thyroid hormon levels checked .?..

if your metabloism is too high then your liver could also like all the bodies other cells work in too high a speed and in this way make the liver transform more protein into glucose...

because the overactive liver is a part many times of the metabolic syndrome in type 2 diabetes / prediabetes then it can also be neccesary to have a limit to how much protein one can eat .. a fine rule if not heavily weightlifting is to eat around 0.8 grams of protein pro kg body weight... because excess proteins will also be transformed into glucose by ones liver...

also having too low a metabolism can make it hard for a person to have normal levels of blood glucose.. because all cells work too slowly and therefore can not use the blood glucose fast enough... ..

I have experience with diabetic symptoms for 40yrs + too and only the past 2yrs have I had tingling toes due to a big 'burn out' I experienced when my partner was attacked. Where my bgs didnt response to no treatment other than insulin injections.
I used a supplement called r-ala and I got rid of it. Only since changing insulin regime recently has it retriggered a little so I will be using r-ala again. Most likely after my bariatric surgery (fingers crossed) this year or early next year.

Hi, I'm pre diabetic too. I don't feel I have the expertise to give you advice about your levels, except to say:
- stress can push your blood sugars up. I was stressing about testing so did a deal with myself I only test when I felt like it. This seems to work and I trust my results more.
- It's taken me 8 weeks to start to see a slight decrease in blood sugars from a borderline pre-diabetes / Type 2 diagnosis to ones that I know are definitely pre-diabetic.

Maybe you could try what I've been doing which is to eat low carb when you can, test when you feel like it and not beat yourself up if you have a dietary slip.

It's so hard isn't it getting this diagnosis, as it seems neither here nor there.

Pre-diabetes can be treated using the 8 week 800kCal a day diet - Dr Michael Moseley. It is an 8 week diet which is meant to reset your resistance to insulin. You have the early warning to permanently change diet and lifestyle. I didn't so my sugary snacking has come home to roost. Mine started as neuropathy indicating nerve damage which is irreversible. You can avoid that. I have seriously reduced my calorie intake and abandoned the sweet treats - only fruit in half portions spread through the day allowed. I have diluted apple cider vinegar as a drink at night too. I am now 10 weeks diagnosed and 9kg lighter so well down the BMI weight for my height and able to run 6 miles. I did walk a lot anyway but higher intensity exercise is great. You will also need to build muscle and eat a high fibre diet. Pulses and nuts contain protein and fibre - you need both. Lots of vegetables both raw and cooked are great for filling an empty tummy! I feel immensely more alert, sleep better and perform better at work. Another rule is always exercise after a meal - a few weights, brisk short walk, long walk, cycle ride. If you can avert full blown T2D it is worth it. I tried 3 days off meds but too soon.... I will wait before I try again. Fix it before it starts. Best of luck
