A few big posts so I may as well add some more words not sure about the wisdom tho. My original Specialist more than 10 years ago (things have changed) said something like. (and I think he had this bit sussed) T2 is not really a disease it is the hunter and gatherer's survival system, It is perfectly natural and that is why it is so hard to beat. To enable the hunter and gatherer to survive the good and the lean times the body puts on weight when it can and as we age it increases our sugar level so we can still run down breakfast/lunch/dinner. But of course, we are not hunters and gatherers anymore and we have a constant supply of food and we can walk to the refrigerator or the supermarket. I will prescribe insulin for you. Enter stage right my new cutting edge Specialist who works with a research hospital and I think he got this next bit right. I want to get you off insulin with a no major carbs diet and when we get your weight down so you can tolerate carbs we will increase your carbs as much as we can. The way I read it both specialists wanted. A) To get my BS under control B) To have me on a recognized balanced diet But one was prepared to sacrifice weight problems associated with insulin, and the other was prepared to sacrifice a balanced diet for how long it took to get my weight down and then a maintenance diet with some increased carbs. So it comes down to Specialist (A) control by Jabs Specialist (B) control by diet hence weight control and Tabs I am happy that Specialist (A) controlled my BS and at age 71 I only have nerve issues with my feet (I had some before I went to him). I am tickled pink that Specialist (B) I have lost more than half my excess weight and jabbing can cause lows which is particularly dangerous when driving. When I read LC in here I know what it is about. When I read LCHF I think it is too radical for me, because I consider both specialist aim is for a balanced diet and that should be my aim too. My BS control can be tighter on no jabs because there is no risk of insulin generated lows, and it is. My weight reduction is from 105 KG down to 91 and still dropping slowly and I have lost my raging hunger. We all can eat my food at home and others have benefited with weight loss. I have never eaten as much tasty food as I do now (not much taste in bread spuds rice etc) I am eating more cakes (and icing) it is all good for me. I hope that helps. PS I have found the wholesaler for nut flours etc in Brisbane if anyone is interested.
