Evening ratios suddenly through the roof

Would appreciate some thoughts on how to address this. In the past 3 days my evening/dinner ratios have shot through the roof and I can't work out why. My breakfast and lunch ratios are the same, but in the evening it almost feels like no amount of NovoRapid can keep my levels down! Last night I had a meal (circ. 60g carbs) which I have regularly and for which 4 units always covers perfectly. Last night I took my usual 4 units, a 3 unit corrector, a 2 unit corrector and then another 2 unit corrector and only then was I back in the 5-6 mmol range!

I take my 10 units of daily Lantus at between 10pm and 11pm and usually have dinner at about 8pm, so my thoughts are that perhaps my Lantus is running out ... but I've been using Lantus since diagnosis almost a year ago and not had this problem before?

I flat-line during the night and when I'm not eating so I'm pretty sure my basal is at the right level.

Any ideas? Thanks

I suspect that the Lantus has always tailed off towards the evening, and in the past your beta cells were producing enough insulin to cover you, either on the bolus side with the food or in the evening when the lantus dropped back. On these lines, what I think may be happening is you are producing less insulin and you are seeing it like this. Keep an eye on the other time periods, as I suspect you may see changes in other areas before too long.

Thanks for the advice on this, Tim. Think it turned out to be a bad batch of NovoRapid as I was back to normal when I put a new cartridge in my pen and am back on my current ratios now. I use a different Echo for evening and never put two and two together. My ratios are still higher in the evening than lunch and breakfast, though, which I assume is indicative of Lantus running out, but given the low doses it's not a big deal at the moment.
