Hi just wondering who out there has bad skin. At this moment in time and for the last few months I resemble a dot to dot picture a very ichy dot to dot picture. They said it was dermatitis but being diabetic doesn't help my hba1c is brill so its not down to high sugars. anyone else with skin issues being put down to simply being diabetic. On I add that I have stuff to help the skin but when I stop using it things go back to square one. I sometimes think my head could fall off and the reason would be " that's common in diabetics"

My partner gets psoriasis from something - we think it is diet related, and are trying to work it out now. He also gets dry, itchy skin from too much cheese and milk (so he eats lactofree dairy, most of the time).

I get psoriasis from processed meat products. I kid you not. More than one portion of bought bacon, or sausages a week, and i get a break out. I am 99% certain it is the preservatives, not the meat, since i eat home made bacon with no problems.

I don't know enough detail of your problem (location? Acne? Rash? Recurrence?) but there are other options than diet. Lots of people have issues with washing powder, chemicals, sodium laurel sulphate, essential oils, contact with metals...

Doctors often have tunnel vision, but it REALLY isn't always about diabetes!

No recurrence cos it hasn't gone away yet, everything I use is SLS free and its basically head to foot Barr my face which was bad but better now. It's just very irritating, I was just wondering if it was common I don't always believe doctors

Hi,

I've always had bad and reactive skin. Despite trying diet and exposure chemicals etc, nothing has worked and it never goes away. Without the regular application of skin creams, I'm always at square one.

Whilst I too am irritated at doctors putting everything down to diabetes, I feel that this problem probably is, as it gets even worse with fluctuations in my blood sugar.

All the best,
