Enzymemax

I'd be really surprised if this helped at all. Putting plant enzymes directly into the acidic stomach environment is likely to result in the stomach breaking them down rather than anything useful happening.

Yeap, I was too thinking about this, but I research a few website that actually supports Amylase does help in diabetes.

A broad based one from Whole Foods called 'Wholezymes'. It has a smattering of the whole need -- amylase, lipase, etc.. 2 per meal -- though I take only 1 per meal. It has gotten rid of a lot of a lot of the gas and queezyness I've felt after meals. And it seems to be returning to me to fasting BG levels sooner. It used to take nearly 3 hours for me to return to baseline and now I seem to be more 'normal' - -right about 2 hours I return to fasting levels unless I've eaten something 'particularly' fatty which then slows the process a bit.

As I did a lot of reading I discovered that by the time we reach 45 or so our bodies only create about half the enzymes we need to digest food. Basically 'everyone' needs to be on an enzyme supplement eventually. There are SOME enzymes in certain foods we eat - but usually not enough. Who knew? Also by middle ages we have only about 1/3 of the HCL (stomach acid) we need.. WOW! So the food sits and rots - and we take ROLAIDS and TUMS to tame the acid that WE THINK is the problem. I get so frustrated that our docs don't have more training in nutrition. I'm on 2 pills a day for acid reflux issues and with what I'm learning it makes me wonder if that's the best thing. It does STOP a lot of the reflux issues (I'm always had 'overactive' proton pumps - that make the acid) but I wonder if my proton pumps are also slowing down in middle age meaning I could take less stomach med for it.. My gastro guy doesn't think I should change anything -- except add the enzymes. We'll see.

I'm a big fan of digestive enzymes, as well as having recent success with proteolytic enzymes in combination with turmeric and boswellia suppements that allowed me to stop take high dosage panadol/codeine for hip and lower back pain.
