Had 3 duck spring rolls, half a small jacket potato with cheese and sweet corn. I did enjoy it but my BG went up to 10.5. Really annoyed with myself and I've felt **** all day. I'm going for my blood test on Thursday and I feel like I've blotted my copybook. Having salmon, mushrooms and cauliflower tonight.

It's over...gone ...forgotten...don't fret over a hiccup you can't change :) Good luck with the blood test

It happens, and as falls from wagons go, it could have been much worse.

I'm not necessarily asking you to tell, but do you know why you did it? If you do, it could be helpful for building strategies for dealing with the same or similar situations, as and when they arise in the future.

How long did your BG stay high. If it's only a few hours then there really is little harm done. I know you said that you've felt like **** all day, but is that really due to your BG staying high all day, or is it just the psychological issue of you "beating yourself up" for doing it?

If you're on a wagon then you're going to fall off from time to time. Just accept it and pick yourself up and get back on when it happens. And most importantly, don't beat yourself up over it.

BTW. I totally agree with "AndBreathe". Some falls off the wagon are much worse than yours was. :)

@carol43 If I correctly understand the way the HbA1c blood test works it will give you an average of your BG levels over the last 3 months so 1 blowout won't make too much of a difference. Anyway I'm sure the fall will have strengthened your determination and there won't be too many more.

@carol43

mmm spring rolls sound nice.

I "fall off the wagon" every now and again and so far it hasn't dome my HbA1c any harm. Don't beat yourself up about it. You know what you need to do :)

Dinner tonight sounds nice too :)

Good luck

Jim

I couldn't face testing last night but it was 10.5 about 9.30 this morning. The reason why I ate it - my OH loves duck spring rolls and I felt like giving him a treat as he normally eats the same thing as me but with potatoes etc. I've been so good up until now so I'll take the advice and get over it. Thank you all.

The salmon was lovely.

Dont beat yourself up over it. For a week over the Christmas period I ate everything I shouldnt, pavlova, ice cream, cake ect and then in the second week of January they called me in for my annual Hb test. I thought oh no but it had gone diwn to 44 so dont worry it is how you eat most of the time that matters and a blow out every now and then wont harm you.

Doesn't everyone fall off the wagon a time or two? I know I have.

You are human. Looks like a good day for a reset.

I fell off the LC wagon last Xmas (2014) and am still not back on it.

I don't understand.

Your numbers look great in your signature line. Whatever you're doing, it appears to be working. Why not continue doing what you've been doing for the last year? :)

Exactly, I stopped low carbing (improved my cholesterol / kidney function) and get the same HBA1C results. Only thing with higher carb is I've put on some weight , which in turn effects my running performance (quite drastically)

@Wurst if your blood sugar is stable with either diet, can you tweak the diet you're on to stop the weight gain? Or do you think you need to go back on the low carb diet?
