What to you is/are the worst part(s) of t2 diabetes?

For you personally, is it the hypos, constant testing, lugging your stuff around, lack of flexibility/freedom, financial costs? Have you experienced some of the more brutal affects or lost loved ones?

Its a horrible disease but I think it's important to share these things as we all try to control it.

As someone who as good control and reversed my diabetes by following a lowcab diet I have no problems ,evey thing is good

I also am T2 in remission.. the worst part of this T2 is going to see the diabetic nurse .. who knows next to nothing about diabetes. Total waste of my time and hers.

The hardest part is trying to find something to eat if you are out and about and haven't planned anything.

Healthcare wise, I have not had a Diabetes Nurse inflicted upon me, and my GP knows I have ignored everything he told me to do, and now just tells me to keep doing what I'm doing as it's working.

We just find a supermarket ..purchase a bowl of fresh salad .. small jar of mayonnaise and a section pack of veggie cheese ... We keep paper plates and plastic cutlery in the car ...

Hi @JMoran, can I ask what your relationship to diabetes is please? All we have is "Other" in your ID and we've not seen you here before! Thanks.

Me too Southbeds, but the worst thing for me is -no more Cadburys Caramel Chocolate or Scotch pies - ever!

Now I've got it under good control I find the worse thing is eating in restaurants: finding a nice one that caters for low carbers. I am in such a routine now that it's not an issue at home or work any more.

I was diagnosed two years ago and the first year was pretty tough, I worked hard at my diet which meant depriving myself of all the above things, after that first year I had lost weight (now in healthy range) and got my levels controlled. Now if I fancy a bit of choccy I find three squares have no effect, a small jacket potato..ocassionally...and I make chips once a week:
1medium baking potato & light fry olive oil spray. Wash potato, dry then cut in half then into wedges, spray with oil & cook in a pre heated oven for around twenty five mins. Not like chip shop chips....nicer
When you get down to normal levels and can retain them you can have the odd sin day but not every day obviously and I no longer have any issues with my type two. I control IT. IT doesn't control me

I really want some grapefruit, I blame my diabetes for not being able to eat it because when I was diagnose with type 2 they also put me on blood pressure meds but one of these days I'm going to crack and just have a couple of segments
