Just to jump in on this thread, i am hoping to go onto an omnipod pump myself soon and have a query about what its like to be on a pump:
Does it hurt to lay on the pump when you are sleeping and does it affect your sleep at all? I'm just wondering if you notice it being there while you sleep or if it causes any problems e.g. pain/discomfort or if it can get pulled out of place if you are a restless sleeper?

I try not to lay on the side where I have my pod @amym06, however I have woke up many a time and found myself laying on the same side and not been in any great discomfort.

Being on a pump hasn't effected my sleep apart from the occasional basal check, I'm not a restless sleeper so can't say if a pod would come unstuck whilst asleep, but the adhesive on the pods are really strong as you will find out once you change one.

Not on the omnipod but when I was first on the pump I was like too scared to sleep at first....bit stupid really but my pump just "follows" me in bed and I don't even realise it's there....but my pump is the medtronic so bit different to the omnipod but once you get used to it it will be great....hopefully! Good luck!

Hi @amym06 as the others have said the adhesive is really strong so very unlikely for it to be pulled out, I am quite a restless sleeper but mine just follows me about as I move, in 2 years i have pulled it out once but it was because my adhesive wasn't quite stuck down properly, if I had checked that before going to sleep it would have been totally fine, I've slept on my side when mine has been on that side and hasn't caused any problems :)

Only once haha I've pulled mine out loads mainly catching it on door handles or forgetting it's not in my bra x

Forgetting it's not in your bra? Do you leave it dangle?
When I'm sitting down at night haha that was my old pump though I don't have a bra pouch for this one lol :( so I'd have left it on my lap and then forgot and got up hahaha

i have found that it depends on where i site my omnipod. there are certain spots on the arms and stomach that can be felt if the pressure is hard enough.
as @noblehead says I try to sleep on the opposite side to where the pod is -- but i do toss and turn all night and often find I am sleeping on it when i wake up..

I have dislodged it once but i did bang into a door frame with a heck of a jolt.

Can I just say though @amym06 when it does occasionally get 'pulled out' the thought of it is far worse than it actually is, I've pulled it out during the day and it just feels like ripping off an Elastoplast, I wasn't completely freaked out by the thought of it before I got a pump, it actually delayed me in getting one as I really thought it would be scary but it's totally not

i don't use the omnipod but i forget that it's there alot of the time so when i get up and i haven't got it cliped on my trousers then i feel a little tug ( friendly reminder ) and i'm like oops but sleeping on it should be fine.

pulled one of mine out last week hahaha (not a pod just a normal cannula), more of a shoch than any pain...........

Think I was more shocked at how bent I had made the cannula !!!
