I saw the pdoc because of my bipolar.he mentioned psych meds can increase bs levels, not what I wanted to hear. He did say the way to get around that, is to go onto insulin. That's the problem, I Don, t want to go on Insulin unless it's essential. Has anyone else in the same situation or have been?

As you say,...... Just what you needed to hear!

My only comment would be that you had achieved marvellous things before you gave up smoking, and started nibbling. Whether you end up having to accept insulin at some point along the way? Only time will tell, but maybe in the meantime, it would be helpful to tackle the nibbling and carb content of the nibbles.

How's that going at the moment? Are you able to find any less carby nibbles you can indulge yourself in, rather than the choccies and cakes that seem to have fallen onto your plate in recent times?

Hi Ally

I understand ur worries, I too am bipolar and take a range of meds for that. I also have other health problems that need medication but I'm being trialled at the moment with trying other stuff.

I know our medication can increase bg levels but I hadnt heard of them using insulin to combat this. I was told by my psychiatrist that he would take me off one medication which is known to create bg increases and also weight gain, which is detrimental to a diabetic, and he would change me to another less invasive medication . I am due to see him next week so I will see what the alternative medication is.

What I would suggest to you is perhpas get an appointment with your diabetic nurse or your own GP and speak to them too so you have all the facts to hand

what sweet things that I had in the house have all been thrown away, that way they can,t tempt me. Before I bought them, I had noticed that my bs levels were already rising

All you can do Ally is keep trying to try.
