Hi, I've been type 1 for 28 years. No complications so far but diabetes seems to be changing atm. Currently using a CGM (only for 5 days) to get a better idea of what is going on. First time an eye check to come back with some changes which I wasn't expecting - that has thrown me off balance somewhat. HbA1c's not too bad but could and need to be better. I suspect I have been having night time hypos and sleeping through them - can't believe I hadn't realised because this has happened before, and they could explain why I have been feeling rough for quite some time.

Welcome to the forum @keep_going

Feeling rough upon waking can mean that your bg levels have dropped in the night and rebounded back-up, they call this the Somogyi Effect, hopefully your CGM will highlight this and you can make adjustments accordingly.

yes!, thx :) I think this is why I've been a bit taken aback at these recent results. Honestly, it's all coming at once...only had my gall bladder out 6 weeks ago too - all healed and good after that though. Hopefully I can get more active again and get my cholesterol down a bit too, I'd rather avoid statins if I can. I feel like I need a good chat with the diabetes nurse. My clinic is so busy but I'll ask them when they can fit me in (they are very good and got me in quick to get the CGM fitted). Anyway, this is why I thought the forum would be a good place to come...I have lots to talk about right now!
I appreciate both your replies :)
