Milling your own seeds is fast and easy, and saves you lots of money.
I dont eat any flour products since they spike me, but use sesame, flax Desiccated coconut and almond flour for baking.
In UK almond flour is 4 times more expensive than almonds.
I have around 10 blenders. When I decided to grind seeds like sesame, flax almond and coconut, and make butter or flour from them only one worked.
It was an 10 year old Philips not sure what it was before....went to look just now and under it says juicer blender 300W.
My cook put it it lots of chunks of coconut..removed from the shell and it broke. so I sent for a new blender from abroad.
I bought omniblend.
Meanwhile my cook glued the philips with superglue and is perfect again.
What I have noticed is as follows.
-Wattage does not mean much. Some blenders utilize it better and some dont.
-blades...blades need to be one pointing down and one up, and minimum is 2 blades and 3 is better.
A blender with a plunger is the best because you can push with the plunger which is needed for flour or butter making.
For this reason nutribullet and other similar design blenders are not good. Avoid blenders with upside down cup for they have limited functionality.
many juicer/blender combinations are powerful.
-price matters. My choice (similar to mine 10+years old) >>>https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HR2876-01-Collection->>>> https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HR..._UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=6E2HB69XSFYR2BG489BH
cost only &25 and people give it raving reviews and can blend nuts and seeds.
I think mine used to look a bit like this before. http://www.amazon.in/Philips-HL1632-500-Watt-Juicer-Grinder/dp/B006TQPZ40 >>>>
Philips HL1632 500-Watt 3 Jar Juicer Mixer Grinder with Fruit Filter (Blue)

- best way to find out if it grinds nuts is to read the comments on Amason.
This is a cheap one and will do the job.

Mid range price:

The more expensive ones >>>>???? no need! This will do the same job.
Hope this helps. i do a lots of baking of bread and cakes in the microwave...so I love both my blenders.
Omniblend is in the class of vitamix but half the price. But that is for life and a professional blender.

I would like to hear your experience about which blenders work and which ones dont, so someone can be helped.

I once weighted a couple of blenders with plasticine & tried racing them across a kitchen work surface once...

I'm a Vitamix girl.

As an investment it ranks up there with lending Bill Gates some seed money back in the 70s.

I have always understood that the Vitamix is the king of blenders not got one myself though to expensive but then I don't really like smoothies green or otherwise. I do use a Ninja for coleslaw sauces dressings and egg mayonnaise

The Nutribullet is good for smoothies and flour, but for making nut butter is useless, and that I make all the time. Otherwise it is a good blender.

Ninja is very reputable blender also but for nut butter the ones with inverted jag are useless...just like nutribullet.

That is one of the best.

My daughter has the Vitamix pro,by towards of£500...ouch. :)!

I would suggest for anyone doing lots of seeds or nuts, the jugs or grinding vessels should be glass or metal or it's likely to be damaged fairly promptly. Usually a plastic vessel will go cloudy first.

I am very fortunate with storage space, but 10 blenders? Do you trial for ?Which?

I mainly grind up hazelnuts for baking, but occasionally walnuts or pecans - both of which tend to be a bit oily, and stick more than the hazelnuts. I use a small very ancient orange and brown coffee grinder (I think it's a Mouli) which does the job for me. I buy my sesame flour and milled golden flax, and occasionally some coconut flour, and use ground almonds rather than almond flour. Since I only bake for me I just need small quantities, so it'd not really worth my processing everything myself.

But I bet it makes the entire experience so much more satisfying:)

am I the only person who uses coffee grinders for seeds and nuts. Sure, you have to do it in small quantities, but they are not expensiva and do coffee, too

He he he! I am an impulsive buyer...buy and after some time abandon them...they go in the store room and after some time I buy another one...
This time I asked my cook to take them all out so I try them....but was a bit shocked how many he brought...
I am in Africa...we live in different scale here.

Nothing wrong with a coffee grinder...I make lots of mug cakes...they use 1 table spoon coconut or sesame flour...so your grinder is fine for that.
