Lunchtime woes

So the last couple of days I have been eating a lettuce wraps for my lunch. Results well it tasted fantastic and the main result was that I lost the bread spike.

Thanks @Kristin251 I am now looking at different recipe ideas for the future
Outstanding! Glad you enjoy them. ! Want did you put on it? Did it fill you up? 1/2 an avocado either chunked up on it, smeared on it like guacamole or on the side is quite filling. You can add other veggies like onion, tomato, peppers etc. My favorite is cooking a burger rare, crumbling it up on the wrap with sautéed mushrooms and onions and drizzles with a mustard mayo sauce. Never want a bun again. I was afraid it would ruin the burger but the warm wet cold crunchy thing was like having a party in my mouth haha
I make different mayo based sauces to change the flavor. Mustard, horseradish, hot sauce. A out 1/2 mayo and half to the other.
Did you use romaine lettuce?

1 carb ( a stupid radish ) will raise me about 7 and 1/2 unit away from food can drop me up to 40 but usually I use 30 when trying to determine if I should take it or not. Also depends on my sensitivity at the time.
How strange please you should ask your healthcare professional about dafne even if it means you have to travel it would be well worth it, it changed my life and I've had type 1 32 years!

I don't understand why you say this. I have very tight control with bs between 75-100 almost all the time unless I eat an unknown food with some unknown sugar in it. I eat home cooked meals 99% of the time. I have been VLC for many many years prediabetes and love being in ketosis.
How do you think Dafne would help me? Or why I need it? My dr says I have better bs than him

Hi @Kristin251. Well tbh I was probably quite boring by your standards but I had a drop of salad cream, some awesome ham, tomatoes spring onion and avocado. It tasted great and surprisingly filled me up. I went for the romain leaves as they eemed sturdiest lol. One question I have is do you need to inject for it? I always believed salad to be free of carbs but I ended up with a rise?

Because you would then probably be able to eat anything you like understanding that sugars carbs all become glucose at different rates and the different ways insulines work, would just give you more freedom but if your enjoying your low carb diet continue as you are

Yes I do inject 1/2 unit. Protein raises me as well as the veggies a bit. I have to moderate my protein or I get a spike. I bolus for half protein. So if I eat 20 g of protein I bolus as if it were 10 carbs. The other veggie carbs are negligible. I never eat more than 3 oz or I would have to split my dose. If I eat 3 oz I take 1 unit. I usually only eat 2 oz per meal though.
Your wrap sounds awesome. I love the way avocado kills hunger. I eat it at all meals as it slows and lowers any spike due to the fat and fiber. Not to mention it tastes great. Very happy to hear you enjoy them just don't over bolus. Once you find the right dose and keep the portions consistant everything is easy. I keep all macros the same but mix up the proteins. Like tuna/ salmon salad, chicken turkey beef lamb. It's all good. Bolus is the same. I do still weigh protein so I know how to bolus.

Got it. I do love my food but would never be able to eat what I want. Due more to digestion, gluten, dairy and other food intolerances. Keto suits me but thanks for your advice

Protein Rolls from Lidl are the only bread type option which works for me and I find them filling.
Not always easy to get hold of as they seem to sell out fast but if you do find them buy lots as they freeze well. Other than that it is salads, sometimes boiled eggs and some tomatoes - probably a bit light for you for lunch - I am doing my best to lose weight and therefore suits.
