Summer heat

I wish to know how could someone deal with heat intolerance? I know that not all of us are the same. I'm young and not overweight, but would consider my heat intolerance severe. Been having a tooth abscess for a long time now because of bad dental work, and in the last month there were no weeks where I didn't had to pop the abscess. Now it is huge and hurts. Two weeks ago the weather cooled down and I visited my dentist in hope that he would see the huge abscess, pop it and give me some antibiotics. He did pop it, but sent me home and said come back the next time.

My greatest fear is having hypoglycemia at the dentist. I have hypos daily. Upon my T1D diagnosis a year ago my A1C was 11. Last time my A1C was 6.7 and I put very much effort into making this possible. My diabetes doc is the sweetest lady in the world and she is really patient. Sadly my severe heat intolerance remains a mystery. Benzos help, but the amount I'd need to take affects my driving. Car won't drive itself, and dentists don't come to house. I don't know what to do other than wait for the rain and cool off, praying that this thing won't kill me while I'm waiting for a root canal/pulling.

Sorry to hear about your nasty toothache...

Am I right in saying hot weather gives you so much discomfort that you can't leave the house to get to your dentist?

If so, how about getting a lift there and back from a friend who has AC in their car?

Hi Grant!

Yes, there isn't an AC in my car. I chased my friends away for siding with a wife who turned my family and loved ones against me (narcissistic). Dad dead of pancreatic cancer. Mother gives excuses. I feel really alone in this. I could try and beg on my knees for an antibiotic at the end of his practice (5 PM). I truly realize the seriousness of all this and that the infection could kill me any moment. It also takes a toll on me knowing what my doc thinks behind my back, knowing I'm his most problematic patient. It hurts. I used to be an athlete. Food used to be the last think I thought about, now it is all I think about. It's extremely unpredictable, but never goes over 200 at it's highest the day. I can barely leave the house, but only in the evenings. I got PTSD from a violent hypoglycemic episode at the airport a year ago, few months prior my diabetes diagnosis. A random person saved my life with a chocolate bar.

Am I right in saying hot weather gives you so much discomfort that you can't leave the house to get to your dentist?

If so, how about getting a lift there and back from a friend who has AC in their car?

Could this be thyroid related? I don't have T1D history in the family, but my mother got diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago.

I have had an interactive thyroid for 30 years. Since I have been diagnosed T2:with all the meds I have found a much greater issue with heat intolerance. It might be worth a test. The recent heat made me feel very panicky and strangely I had blood test results yesterday Hb1 down to 48 great but......my thyroxine level needs upping again. In 30years it's been altered twice, since diagnosis in March 20016 my dose, already high has been altered altered 4 times. It can make you feel very anxious, exhausted and its a bit like living in cotton wool! Get it checked it can have a very bad effect on everything if it's not functioning properly. X

You're not alone, far from it!

Don't feel like a problematic patient, go and see your doctor and explain your symptoms. They have a legal obligation to help you.
