Prediabetes
I was only diagnosed a few weeks ago as pre diabetec , and my highest reading was last week at 7 after main meal .....2 hours after.
I havnt tested for a few days, but have been very careful with my diet......Today we have travelled to our mobile home and not feeling hungry , I just had a bowl of chicken soup , a small wholemeal roll, a few blueberries and half a yogert.....I just tested at 9! I have a friend here with me who is not diabetic, and she asked me to test her, and she read 13..3! ...........I know what I ate wasn't too good, but I think it's odd.......especially my friend.

I am prediabetic and I think your bg reading is what I would expect from that meal.
However that is high for your friend. Perhaps test again with a new box of testing strips. If your friend is still high I would advise her to go to her gp.

Did you wash your hands? Use plain soap, don't use anything with alcohol in it.

What was so wrong about the meal I ate......still learning. It was a new needle, and then a new one for my friend, would never use same needle on her.........
Will check again after lunch today.....

I would suggest your friend may need top be checked for diabetes.

What kind of yog was it(15g ish of carbs) ? also rolls contain about 40g of carbs normally, plus carbs for soup (normally 10-20g) so a min amount of 70g of carbs? thats quite a lot for one meal so not surprized your a bit higher.

If it was tinned soup it will have been high in carbs - always check the labels for total carb content. Tinned soups are usually thickened with flour, and flour is one of our danger foods. The wholemeal roll won't have done you any favours either. Unless the yogurt was a plain full fat version, that also will have had a lot of carbs in it - check the label.

I agree with the others, your friend could well be over the threshold and may be well advised to go to the GP.

Not sure of yogert but it was the one with low carbs, will check for you,. Only had half a pot with a few blueberries....But I understand what you mean about soup and roll together......

Carb in yogert was 9, but yes it was tinned soup.....dint eat a full small tin and it was just half a yogert.....But I have learnt a lesson......
Have just tested before lunch at 4.9 . It's a big learning curve, but I will get there .

There are yogurts available with less carbs than that. Fage Total has 3.8g per 100g. I guess yours wasn't a full fat plain variety?
It's all a major learning curve with a lot of trial and error. Even after all this time I am still learning.

It was a Danone blueberry light and free. I am not at all keen on plain yogert, but guess I will have to get used to them....

A plain FF yogurt with a small amount of fresh berries added tastes even better. You don't need many - 2 medium strawberries, or 4 or 5 raspberries or 6 blueberries and bob's your uncle.
