Fasting Glucose Rise

My fasting glucose was 5.9mmol/l this morning. I tested it again around an hour later, just before my breakfast and it was 6mmol/l.

Between these tests I only had water and I'd taken my thyroid medication. I've just checked the ingredients and they contain lactose.

This is anything to worry about?

Hi @girl afraid

Relax! This is nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, the home testing meters we use are a little bit pants! Mostly they have a tolerance range of +/-15% so the difference you've seen can easily be classed as a reading error. If your actual level is 6 you could get a reading anywhere between 5.1 and 6.9. And you will obtain similar variation with 2 readings using the same drop of blood.

Try not to get too hung up on individual readings, just log everything and look for trends. ;)
