Alpha Lipoic Acid (Arachnoiditis cord injury

I have been on ALA 200mg day for the last 3 months and about 4 months last year. Haven't noticed improvement in my neuropathy - I am numkb rather than painful. Maybe it stops it getting worse. The Germans seem to use a lot of it. The medical papers seem to use doses of 600mg per day intravenously.

Used this hopeing for help with Foot Pain. It didnt help. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether it helps D

I am taking 2 X 300mg pd to hopefully slow increasing peripheral neuropathy. Feet feel wooden, etc. Poor balance. Currently on 2nd trial. Thinking of going to 3 X 300mg. High levels seem to meet with approval in Germany.

The research I've come across is based on 600mg per day so I take that as a minimum dose. There are 300mg pills around to reduce cost and rattling to much! Good luck with it.

yes the aquired dose is at least 600mg a day of Alpha Lipoic Acid, and what most people do not know is that the only actively working ALA in humans is the R-Alpha lipoic acid , which is only about half of the content in the pills most people buy

I've tried working up to 600mg pd without any indications of improvement. Recent scan revealed 1 x 1.1cm cell in R-kidney.
Now need Rollator for walking outside home. My annual check always report good 'long-term' BG control, never above 7.

My insulin need is reduced by a third on r-ala 80%. I highly recommend it for insulin users!

Agreed to be 'monitored' as my overall health contraindicates removal at this stage. Glad to have Rollator and able to drive my car.

'wow that ïs a lot.... really a lot... wonder why that could be... R-alpha lipoic acid is both water and fat soluble , which mean that it can get into also the brain..... but maybe also into the cells where insuline by resistance can not by it self.... otherwise I could not understand why that would appear...

I am hugely insulin resistant. I've noticed since increasing insulin due to carby christmas and no r-ala my tummy mass has turned to soft fat. Mind u metformin does that for me too. Otherwise I am solid and very firm body mass.
I will be taking r-ala again once cardiologist approves too. Dn said no evidence to prove a benefit but I know I can reduce my insulin, as I've due it twice.
I'll keep you posted when I do it again and my daily improvement.
