Sore knee.... probably not diabetes related...

but who knows.

I would like to ask if anyone around here has ever done their knee ligaments in, int. or ant.
If so, what does it feel like?

My right knee feels as if someone has belted me with a hammer on the lower left of the knee. It is pretty **** sore and seems to track up with the muscle on the inside of my leg. It's making sleep time an interesting time... no sleep and lots of thinking... never a good mix. :(

Off to the docs/physio as soon as I can get an appointment.

Thank you for reading.

I have found some very useful info (for my various aches and pains), by searching for pics of where it hurts, and then following the trail through the internet.

This pic should show you what I mean :)

In my yoof, I had loads of knee injuries and have had surgery too, so I can feel your pain. Do you know what brought this on, and does anything make it feel better or worse?

You really need to have someone look at it because different issues require different approached to treatment and management.

If you're finding sleep tricky, perhaps a pillow could be useful, either under the knee, to support it being bent a tiny bit, if you sleep on your back. If your sleeping regime means your painful leg is the upper leg when sleeping on your side, a pillow between your legs/knees could be helpful.

Good luck with it, as pain is so debilitating.

I have been plagued for several months off and on with knee pain and I think it could be caused by Carbimazole (thyroid drug)

I had also has lower leg pain in the other leg for several days recently which was worrying me in case it was a deep vein thrombosis. I decided to go to the small walk in clinic at the local hospital a week ago and the doctor said it wasn't a thrombosis but maybe the pain is due to lack of Vitamin D so I am going to have a blood test. As time passes we require loads of this vitanin for bones, muscle and diabetes control.

In the meantime I have been taking turmeric and both legs are pain free! A good cream to apply for pain relief is Algesal which is non hyperglycaemic and is available on prescription from your GP.

In the time before your appointment Hankjam I am going to suggest Wintergreen. In the older days footballers used it on their aches and pains. I dare say it wont cure it but it along with some of the other suggestions here might bring you some comfort!

Thanks @AndBreathe right with the pillow, I have one to keep my knees apart at night to relieve the pressure and it does help. I am fortunate to have BUPA at work, I pay most of it though, and tried to get a referral for physio.... they were going to phone me back... but not so far. I have a very good physio to did my frozen shoulder.... major joints not looking too good at the mo and I am not a big fan of painkillers... just masks as I see it.

I'm pretty old school so can't see past Deep Heat... my school doctor once gave it to a boy who had broken his leg.... it is good but not quite that good. :)
