If your post meal glucose reading remains high after a week of low carbs meals. Then it would be best to check for the possibility of being Type1.
A fasting glucose/insulin test will also give you an idea of whether you have elevated insulin level. If you do have elevatated fasting insulin level, chances are good that you are Type2. A carbs lite fats friendly diet will be helpful in normalizing both your glucose/insulin levels. But note that fasting glucose levels usually take a much longer time to normalize.
