Hello there everyone! I have very recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and am getting to grips with everything. Yesterday I noticed about a quarter of my breast and a small patch on my back feel numb. Anyone know if this is related to the diabetes please?

welcome here Karenoka :)

It is hard to say, but if you get your blood glucose down to a normal range as fast as possible then maybe it will disapear again if you are lucky if it has anything to do with diabetes... which it may have ... but in any case I´d go to my doctor and get an excamination as soon as possible..

diabetes with raised levels of blood glucose can cause nerve damage in many different ways...and it is impossible to say who it will hit and after how long time of raised blood glucose..

I´ll tag @daisy so that you´ll get the basic informations that everybody in this forum gets... and please read it ...

Hello @Karenoka, and a warm welcome to the forum. Sorry, can't help with this query, but if the numbness continues for a few days I'd get yourself off to the doc and have it checked out asap. It could probably be anything - or hopefully nothing. Even a too-tight bra or a twisted strap pressing on a nerve or something. But I'd advise that you don't leave it; better to get it checked out & put your mind at rest.

Hopefully someone more knowledgable than me will pop along and offer some better info. :)

p.s. While writing this, Freema has posted; hope we're not repeating eachother too much

Thanks Freema for your reply. Forgot to say have a squashed nerve in my neck which could be the cause but you are quite right to say I should get it checked out. Just so fed up with all the appointments I have had lately! but will go in the next couple of days.

it seems very likely that it is the squeesed nerve then

Have just been to Docs and she is pretty sure it's to do with my squashed nerve in my neck. So good news and no need to worry anymore just to keep an eye on it. Phew!!
