I have only had my SD Codefree meter for a month, and some days have only used it at midday meal time (before and after) but I have just gone to test and the meter is dead!
Is it normal for the battery to expire so quickly?
I am rather shocked it's gone so soon :(

It would have been slowly trickling away the charge, while in storage before you got it.

Batteries are cheap to replace, so do not get despondent over it.

The odd battery can fail for apparently no reason. The batteries that meter takes are cheap - even Duracell or the like.

Just a note of caution; during very cold weather, don't leave your meter anywhere very cold (some rooms without heating can be too cold) not on a shelf over a radiator, as that may be too warm, and that doesn't help with the accuracy of your tests. It's something that comes up every year since I've been reading the Forum.

My first one used to eat batteries,. about one a month so I thought I would buy another to have as a spare which is still on its original. Maybe e-mail home health and see if they know of the problem .. they might send you a replacement.

The Performa batteries come in packs of two here, so you have a spare.

I bought a pack of two type 2032 lithium batteries from the pharmacy I go to yesterday, they cost $5.90.

They were a bit cheaper in the battery section of the supermarket we do our shopping at, but I have not had a good experience with the batteries as a couple of time they have been flat.

@Chasida the equivalent cost for them in the UK should not break your bank.
