Well I tried the diet the Doctor told me to eat for almost 3 months, the usual things, lots of smaller meals, bread, porridge, fruit etc. etc. and I was feeling sluggish, bloated, had bad stomach upsets. So after reading here the last 2 weeks I cut way back and tried the LCHF diet.

Just to prove to myself again that my Dr is an idiot, for the last week I started back on the 'Doctors diet' and oh my lord! Bloated and looking 6 months pregnant, so uncomfortable, really thirsty, feeling like ****, never feeling like I have eaten enough, looking for snacks.

Tomorrow it's back on the LCHF diet, I am buying a BG monitor and upping the exercise.

You now know what is working for you and have made the most important step in getting yourself a BG monitor:)

I don't know if you're aware, but the SD CodeFree is the meter of choice for a lot of T2D's, due to it having the most affordable test strips:

https://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/codefree-blood-glucose-monitoring-system-mmoll-or-mgdl/

There are also discounts available from this seller, for buying the test strips in "bulk", and the codes are detailed below:

5 lots of x50 test strips - 264 086
10 lots of x50 test strips - 975 833

You should also be eligible for VAT relief as you are diabetic (20% saving; providing you live in the UK), there should be an option to highlight this at the checkout.

For you own information, here's some guidance with regards to blood glucose levels and target ranges:

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

EDIT - After a quick look at your profile page, I see that you're in Australia! So for obvious reasons, some of the above won't apply.
