Good Morning

Hugs galore Barbara! Would your brother consider low carb?
Thanks Vicky, I think he would consider it but might have difficulty because he has Aspergers and gets very anxious when he has to change his routine.

I increased my Insulin by 2 units over a week ago (now on 46 units a day) and there has been only a very slight improvement on blood sugars. My fear is putting on additional weight, when I have to shed another stone and get down to 12 stone - so the Professionals keep telling me. I have tried fasting from when I get up until 1.30 - 2pm everyday for over a week now. My partner says I need to eat, as I am moody, irritating and snappy at the slightest thing.
So today have decreased my Insulin to 44 units a day. But, I really think it was the switch from 'bog' Standard Metformin to the SR version of Metformin almost a month ago that is responsible for my erratic blood sugars. My weight has stayed the same for the past 9 weeks at exactly 13 stone.
Stick with what works for you.
I wish canagliflozin didn't have thrush as the side affect. I lost on that. Maybe an intensive course of thrush treatment leading up to the month mark on taking it, might counteract the side affect. I've seen some preventative canasten products but never looked into it any further. Big boots branch more stocked. I'm going to investigate. Should I let you know any solution?

What a difficult additional pressure when a diet change is encouraged. A long slow process but changing one thing like reheated potato rather than fresh potato or flour substitutes. Might be all HE needs, if prediabetic? Are you his carer?
I wish more support for families who have hereditary diabetes. Loads of families now. I wish I wasn't the only member in my family. I stand alone. :(
My mum came as a chaperone for me yesterday. She still doesn't get, its related to my diabetes (inflammation). Well pelvic problem and struggling to walk carnt be helping my heart. She'll never understand. :(

Will do kittylitter.
Specialist signing me up on my next appointment in the new year.
Maybe we can be weight loss buddies? How long have you been given to think about it?
I looked into it a few yrs back and saw the surgeon, he said I would better off with the bypass, I went home and forgot about it, as I really wanted to try and lose the weight myself (I had no diagnosis of any type of metabolic problems then apart from hypothyroid) so I left it a few years, now I still havnt lost any weight in that time and am starting to think about it again, as I got a hb test back at 41 which is just off pre-diabetes) Its a hard desicion for me as I am borderline, not saying it is not a hard choice for anyone though. And my weight is borderline too with a BMI of 33.4 ish. So I am still at the decision stage.

You have an excellent chance to get rid of your diabetes with this op. Higher success with prediabetes cases. Have a read up. I'm in the slim chance of getting rid of diabetes but maybe I'll be able to get rid of insulin use!

Good Morning to all you beautiful people from a very wet notts..... have a wonderful day hugzzzz

Good morning all from a dreich, cold. C Scotland. Just off out food shopping as I've eaten everything in the house that wasn't moving . fbg still through the roof and I'm craving carbs owing to my falling very heavily off the lchf wagon whilst on holiday last week. Seriously, it's terrifying how addictive carbs are and I'm hungry most of the time too. Well, I'll just have to suffer carbs withdrawal this week I want my clear-headed, energetic, self back. Hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend and the weather is not too cold where you are.

I'll have to have a heart to heart with him today, he lives with mum as her carer even though he needs care himself! We're lucky, we have a very good relationship (unlike when we were teenagers!) and he is comforted by the fact that I've been through it before him. I try and spend a lot of time with him so he doesn't feel too isolated but it's been difficult with everything our older brother has been through, I haven't had the free time to just pop up to theirs and have a chat. Luckily he has inherited our dad's independent streak and is the smartest member of the family so once I give him the basic info he needs he will devise his own solution and make it work for him.

Still struggling with my breathing this morning and look/feel totally knackered. Sleeping a lot but sugars are excellent on full meds.
Just realised I haven't taken my morning tablets and I'm back in bed. Best get up.
Wishing everyone well. No walk to my mums today, staying home til gp appointment tomorrow. Resting, for a change. Well inbetween attending to the boisterous toddler. 9yr old helping me today.

Thank you for the info, I think they say that the sooner you are diagnosed, the better chance of reversing it - Grrr I go sugar free for a week and I put on a pound, I know its only a pound, but so unfair - hopefully your surgery will do wonders for you, it seems like the last chance for you to improve things - really hope it sorts out your stuff - I shall be watching you lol

Good Morning to all on this wet and windy morning, rain coats and wellies aren the order of the day arghhhh:dummy::dummy1::)

Looks like a Christmas card here this morning, thick, sparkling frost coating everything. Now where are my fluffy socks?
Have a healthy, happy day everyone.

Morning everyone, we have thick grey clouds here and it's chucking it down! Lovely day to go and sign on :) Hope everyone has a good day

I've posponed my gp appointment til tomorrow. I need more rest.
Wet and icy outside. Cosy and warm inside. :)

Good morning from a dismal, dark Central Scotland. Freezing cold and pouring rain- can't wait to go outside for my morning walk :(
Have a good day everyone, keep well wrapped up :)

Morning @13lizanne not a nice day here either. Well what can I say , went up to check on Ron last night to find him still having tremors rolling from one side to another in pain . The meds don't seem to be working yet nobody is listening to me . Can't see next weeks appointment being of much use either . Feeling frustrated think that's why I've not been posting as much . Oh well have a good day everyone. Hug to those feeling under the weather.x

Morning all, it's going to be an interesting day today - I got a phone call from an agency yesterday to ask if I was free for an interview today! Of course I said yes but the agency didn't give me any details about the job (pay, duties etc.), they gave me the job title, the company name and address and that it started at 4pm and that was it! I did some digging online and apparently it's a logistics firm which operates 24 hours a day (shift work! Groan) and several ex employees have left not very flattering reviews about the company's working practices on a job website. Still, I shall give it my best shot - it's more experience isn't it

Extra hugs to you hun. Your gp should be interested more. Surely they can see him suffering. They will help him more at pain clinic, then everyone can see what the remaining problems are. Pain disguises a lot of things, I feel.
