Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
Treatment type
I do not have diabetes
Hi. My name is Isabella. I am 17 and I am currently studying to science at college as I hope to work as a paediatric diabetic nurse sometime soon in the future.
I also know a lot about diabetes already.
However, I have been feeling very unwell this week and although I know the symptoms I am not experiencing them all.
I would like to know what symptoms everyone experiences before being diagnosed?
Thank you

So you know what the symptoms of diabetes are but you're not experiencing them? If so, what leads you to believe you might have diabetes?

The symptom we all had when we were diagnosed was hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) in some form.

If you're concerned that you might have diabetes then you should see a professional. If you're not willing to do that then co sided buying a blood sugar meter and testing your blood sugar yourself.

I am a type 2 and I experienced no symptoms. I was captured by a keen nurse when at the surgery for something else. I understand this to be most people's story. There is an estimate of about 600,000 people walking around the UK undiagnosed since they do not feel that there is anything wrong with them.

Completely the same as above other than I have hardening and discolouration on a third of my thumb nail tested no infection found and told it might just be like that or it could be a symptom of diabetes hba1c came back at 48 told to test again in a year I did and hba1c was 99 the rest is history

If you are worried about your symptoms then it is best to see a HCP.
Do you think that knowing the symptoms that diabetics experience will help your studies?
