When I reply in a thread it seems to disappear from the recent posts page, although there are threads before and after it in time - has anyone else noticed this?

In recent posts it shouldnt do that. If ur at unread posts it does that.

As far as I can see the New Posts and Recent Posts pages are alternate names for the same thing.

I think they are similar, but the Recent Posts are all threads with a recent posting on it, whether you have seen the lat post or not. Any last posts you have seen are in a different colour. New Posts are recent threads where the last post is one you haven't seen. If you have seen it, it won't show.

I have this screen for Recent Posts, with a tab called New Posts - is there another page somewhere else?

Is this for all your posts, or just for a certain thread?
Typical scenario:
Someone asks a question - I answer it - I look back at Recent/New posts a while later to see the reaction to my answer - there is no sign of the thread although there are new posts more recent in time - some while later the thread reappears.

Hi, so can you see my reply.

If a could ask a delicate question?
You haven't posted anything contrary to forum rules or of an incendiary nature..?
You can appreciate I wouldn't wish your reply to cause this thread to disappear...

It doesn't always happen.

It rather looks like sometimes there may not have been any further comments, until second time you look?

If you particularly want to keep an eye on a particular thread, where, say, something of particular interest is going on, you can "Watch" the thread, and then alerts will show or you can set the system to receive emails (on a thread, by thread basis). The Watch option is at the upper part of the page, towards the right hand side.

No I haven't, witnessed by the fact that the thread with my post eventually re-appears.

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying threads disappear from Recent Posts if the last post is your own, but surely they just show as a lighter colour?

If you have viewed a thread on the sub forum list the title will grow faint like Marty McFly in back to the future when his future parents weren't dancing at the "prom."
Clearing the history on your browser will sort out 1985!

Yes, they show in a lighter colour. They only disappear from New Posts.

If you are interested in time travel you might like to attend the conference held last week :)
