Hi,

Anyone able to confirm what measurement the UK docs use for measuring Hba1c?

Went recently and mine was 64, up from 59 in 3 months... It's just when you google articles a lot of them talk about mmol/l whereas I think mine is mmol/mol.

Gutted my hba1lc gone up, but then I think I added granola to my breakfast and that can't have helped.
When I checked my BS this morning I had 11.1, which explains the headache I had.

How do I control overnight sugars? I can get them down before sleep, but by the morning they are in the region of 7.5 to 11...

Hi sharpharp
In the UK, Hba1c is measured in mmol/mol. Spot tests, ie those taken by you at home and as fasting tests at the doctor's are measured in mmol/L. There is an old measurement for HbA1c which is expressed as a percentage, eg 6.5%.
Many people will offer various methods to try and prevent the "dawn phenomena", where blood sugars arise on waking. These include early breakfasts, biscuits in the wee small hours and all manner of potions. But if you get daytime levels right down by adjusting your diet, morning readings will hopefully follow eventually.

Yes the old measurements (expressed in percent) were DCCT, and the newer measurements (expressed as mmol/mol) are IFCC.
