6 week wait for kidney scan?

As you'll all know I've had an ongoing kidney infection now for a few weeks... I've been on lots of different antibiotics which haven't worked. I'm now half way through my (hopefully) final pack. On Monday I suggested maybe I could have kidney stones. They arranged a scan for me. Got the letter today, made an appointment, and it's a 6 week wait? Is this normal? They know my kidneys are a LITTLE damaged, as I'm on lisinopril tablets to "preserve" them. Helppppp

Hi chloesnavy i don't know what the waiting times are for scans but this sounds about right only thing i can suggest is you phone up appointments at hos and have a word about yourself and the kidney problems you've got and see if they can put you on a cancellation appointment only thing is you would have to be available at short notice hope all goes well for you.

Yeah I think thats the "norm" for scans, Ive had 2 and I'm sure it was about the same

Yeah I think thats the "norm" for scans, Ive had 2 and I'm sure it was about the same

I guess so. I know there's a waiting list, and I know there will be people needing scans more urgently than me... just wish I could just quickly scan it myself

its a shame BUT 6 weeks will fly by especially if you get back to normal and pain free

If you find you get another infection, or the antibiotics dont work, ring up the hospital and tell them bout the recurring infections and how many courses of antibiotics you have been on. That counts as your condition worsening, as repeat antibiotics are to be avoided if possible, and may get you seen quicker. All the best.

Thank you. Today is the last day of my seven day course of antibiotics and to be honest, my side is still aching a bit!
