Met the practice nurse this morning and I think she's brilliant!
No change to hba1c since December 2015 (I didn't realise that I should be checked regularly) it is still 54 so I have maintained the reduction from 119 that I achieved after being told I had diabetes.
I have gained 14kg since December 2015 and I have actually gained 5kg since starting lchf. I think I like cream too much for my own good. I plan to carry on lchf but maybe have avocados and olive oil instead of cream and butter.
Cholesterol up from 4.3 to 5.0 with a 4.2 ratio. I need to get hdl up and ldl down which I may be able to do with exercise. I have been doing very little walking for the past four months but I will make an effort to exercise more.
I wasn't specific about diet. I said that I have cut out pasta, bread and rice and told her that I was never much of a sweet eater. I was offered metformin (on the grounds that it helps with weight loss) and a twelve week membership of Slimming World both of which I declined gracefully. I want to see what happens over the next twelve weeks with the lchf (minus the large quantities of butter and cream). I now have a clear baseline from which to measure changes.
My feet are healthy. My kidneys are in excellent shape, nurse said over 60 is good and mine is 90. Don't know what this means other than that I am doing well. Liver function test (CL27) - normal - no action. Don't know exactly what this means but it sounds good.
Asked about my childhood pancreatitis and she said that it wouldn't affect me now.
I am full of hope and optimism. I am grateful to everyone who has given me advice on the forum, I will continue to take your suggestions on board and hopefully I will see even better results in June. X
