Playing cat and mouse....

For any pet owners out there I was just wondering if your pet has any games that they play with you.....

My cat, Tallie, has a particular 'game' that she plays with a favourite toy......

....whenever I go out (even for a short period) she will go and find this particular toy (she has lots of others to choose from) and then carefully place it for me to 'find' on my return.......this may be in the kitchen doorway, outside the back door or halfway down the garden path amongst other places .....I then have to pick it up and return it to her toy box.....:cat:

....even if I hide it at the bottom of the box (an old cat food box) under all the other toys she will find this particular one and you can almost guarantee that she has played her little game in my absence.....I even had to explain the 'rules of the game' to @Clivethedrive recently as she now does it when he goes out too....:)

....I also have two other cats (Tallies 4 yr old kittens, a boy and a girl) but she is the only one that does this....is quite endearing really and I think shows a certain level of intelligence and personal interaction...

.....was wondering if anyone else's cats.......... @Robinredbreast @chris lowe ........or dogs...... @callyandy @Sable_Jan ......had similar traits and if so, what do they do......
 
Dead jealous!! That's delightful, and obviously Clive is now well and truly part of the family!! Ruby Tuesday is not such a playful cat, she has her mad moment when she scoots up and down the hall way and she sits on the stairs and plays through the bannisters. But her most endearing trait is she sits on the back of the chair behind my head. I forget she's there and it makes me chuckle when she starts to snore!! She sleeps on the bed, not a problem until she starts to purr at stooped o'clock in the morning, then it gets less cute.

Charley, now she's a different story all together. She'll play with anything. Especially her food I give her a few little squares of Bakers cos she likes to bring them in the living room for us to play kick and hide with her!! She's never been very focused on food it all has to be a game so she regularly drops congs at our feet for us to fill them.
She's also brilliant at football!!! Grimsby Town would be lucky to have her!
 
Just walked round to Tesco to get some cream and true to form the toy was in the kitchen doorway on my return.....:cat::)
 
My Bobby dog has a thing about collecting dusters and small cloths, he delicately picks them up with a shake of his head and creates a nest of them in the middle of the hall, doesn't matter where I hang/put them he will stealthily grab them, and making sure we are watching he prances off to the hall as if to say "I've got it again ner-ner-nah-ner-ner"........ we have to stifle giggles as if he hears us laugh he drops it with a "poor me" look........he is a sweetheart though.......:p
 
Alfie isn't particularly playful but ever so often he'll have a funny five minutes with a little harrods teddy which he throws about like a mouse the Daisy has a PG Tips monkey which she drags out of the toy box at night & plonks at the bottom of the stairs or occasionally drags upstairs

That's adorable.
One of our rescue cats (a tortie called Tippy) used to find the "magic sponges" as we used to call them. Foam and scourers. She would just roam about the house with them in her mouse making a sort of gurgling/growling noise. Happy as anything... Very strange:joyful::rolleyes:
 
Our dog Logan (he's a rescue greyhound) will bring you one of his bears and he likes you to throw it so he can show off and jump after it. He then rags it around and will bring it back to you. Problem is Logan doesnt understand he's a big boy and he's also old. (We think he's about 12 or 13) His joints cant take much of the pirouettes in the air so we now tend to try get him to play tug of war.

Latest trick to give him some enrichment is to play hide the treat to see if his nose can pick them out. He had great fun with my handbag yesterday as I had bought some prok scratchings for hubby from the local museum. Logan could smell them and tried repeatedly to work out where the nice smell was coming from. Of course he cant have them due to the fat and salt content so it was back to his little beef heart treats.

We also had a cat who would go out nocturnal hunting & would sit with his catch under the bedroom window calling to us until one of us opened window to tell him what a clever boy he was
 
:cat:....have searched everywhere and the toy is missing......:wideyed:.....will just have to wait until she goes and finds it from wherever she has hidden it......am confident that it will turn up again some day and some where.......:)
....she is probably sitting there wondering why I am not playing the game.....:rolleyes:

Logan sounds adorable. I don't understand why they get such bad press. Peeps have the misapprehension that they are hard work to keep. As I understand it they don't need a whole lot of exercise? Andy and I would love one, it's a shame they're too big for us. Give him a hug from me please:)

Ruby caught sight of herself in the mirror in the bathroom the other day. Goodness, I had to cover it up, she got herself in a right pickle!!:hilarious::hilarious: Hissing and spitting, normally she's frightened of her own shadow. The next day, not a murmur, walked right by it, not a blink:rolleyes: Bonkers cat.:joyful:

Think I read somewhere they are used to short bursts of exercise from running after the rabbit so don't need huge amounts,

Darling Tallie. Ruby is currently sitting behind my head purring for Britain!! I can't cope with it, off to bed for some peace... For a cat who can't meow, she don't arf make up for it in other ways!!!:arghh::arghh:

Yup, whereas Charley can go for hours... I'm convinced she's Jack Russel crossed with Border Collie:rolleyes:. There's a thought... Nite nite all.:)

No its true its a misconception they need loads of exercise. They are couch potatoes and take up the whole sofa and so you dont get a look in at a seat. They need about 20 mins a day for exercise. I'll put a pic up of him later, have my granddaughter hanging off my shoulder wanting the pc (:cat: that's Hayleigh's contribution)

I'm assuming the granddaughter was the elder, not Ava May?:wideyed::D
