How high is too high to drive?

It would seem very strange if the cps tried to argue that driving required tighter control than our Civil Air Administration requires for aircraft pilots.
"Pre and in-flight blood glucose monitoring values were correlated against the CAA-specified "Green" (5-15mmol/l), "Amber" (4-5 and 15-20mmol/l), and "Red" (<4 or >20mmol/l) ranges."

The USA has similar regulation: http://pilotswithdiabetes.com/pdf/final_recommendations_package_pilots.pdf with ~15mmol/l being the upper trigger for land at the nearest airport or hand over control to another pilot.

@Brunneria Wow, that was a close call. Mine dropped within 4 hours but I had taken Lantus to get it to go down. The lowest I got was 5.3 then I ate some lunch and drove us to do errands. This illustrates my fear of lows though-mom can no longer drive and I would be on my own with her stuck on the road somewhere if I had a bad low during the day. I have never gone below 4.0 to my knowledge though and only at night. Even when I am sick and can not eat my BG keeps going up.
I'm just interested by you taking Lantus rather than a fast-acting insulin to get your gluose levels down quickly? Also, for most people (though as with anything to do with diabetes, we're all different) illness does result in increased BG levels

I cant see what difference it makes if your blood sugar levels are high, better that than too low I'd of thought!
For me and it seems some other people who've posted, high BG leads to hard to resist sleepiness and OP mentioned his eyesight is affected, so it can make a real difference

Hi! I have type 2, and take lantus and metformin. The only fast acting solution I have is exercise. Drinking water can help a little if I am dehydrated with BG. Illness makes my BG unstable-with highs, lows and vomiting usually. I am currently having a very good week blood sugar after a wobbly one last week.
